Hyderabad taking a safe seat in pollution statistics?

Need for a consistent study on air-pollution?

Surfing through each page of newspaper, having time only to pay cursory glances, I note something that deserved mention today. Pollution. In fourth grade I heard the word for the first time and hence have been learning about it. The causes of pollution, its impact on biotic things, ways to control degradation of natural resources and so on and on. It should feel worse for the elder citizens, I guess.

What was the news that pulled me into it? The survey conducted by IIT Madras published a report on the figures of pollution in chief cities of India. As against the reports released by Greenpeace India and WHO in 2014, the latest report slams back bringing out Chennai top in the enumeration. Delhi takes third pollution following Kanpur, the second-most polluted city in the country.

Chennai! The fact blurred my eyes. I have been to many a city and had never reckoned Chennai would beat Delhi, or would appear in the list! And Hyderabad, taking a safe seat at the bottom, unnerved me. The unsafe road regulations and uncontrolled vehicle emissions really alarmed my three days visit. Did I loath a random thought to visiting the city for another time? Oh, no thanks.

You reach a junction and it is a mess. No helmet, no speed limit, and virtual presence of traffic policemen and road regulations put your journey on peril.
